This piece was commissioned to be part of a
multidisciplinary art work, in suitcases by 20 national and
international artists. I collaborated with an artist based in
California to create this piece based around the continual
struggle in peoples lives, when someone is needed to be close
but they miles away. |
| Modern communications enable us to contact someone on the
other side of the world, having a virtual conversation with them
as if they were sitting opposite you. It seems so real, but it
is not the same. In my suitcase I have forever united two people
one in California the other in England, who are forced to be
separated by events that are beyond their control. |

They both recorded aspects of their neighbourhood
simultaneously, as if the other was really there and everything
about that moment was placed in that case although separated by
thousands of miles. A time when they were in each other’s
thoughts and memories will always remain in the case, together
forever. |
